BEVERLY, MA - The Endicott College women's soccer team used a four-goal first half outpouring to defeat the Colby-Sawyer Chargers, 4-0, on Wednesday evening in TCCC action. The win improves Endicott to 3-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference and marks the Gulls fourth straight victory.
Endicott opened the scoring just 6:21 into the contest when a Caitlin Flynn (Southold, NY/Mattituck) corner kick was redirected by sophomore Kellie Lajoie (York, ME/York) past CSC's Christina Quirk (Milford, CT/J.A. Foran) to put the Blue and Green ahead, 1-0. Moments later, the Gulls doubled the margin when senior Margreta Weber (Bedford, NH/Manchester West) found a streaking Flynn down the right sideline who buried a tough angled shot to put Endicott up two.
Endicott kept the pressure on in the 36th minute as Ellie Fleischer (Huntington, VT/Mount Mansfield Union) scored her first collegiate goal on a nifty feed from Flynn. The Gulls Brianna Russo (Danvers, MA/Danvers) also tallied the first goal of her young career, taking a rebound off the crossbar and finding the bottom right corner of the net to give Endicott the 4-0 win.
Caitlin Flynn led the scoring attack as the sophomore forward notched a goal and two assists in the winning effort. The Gulls Ellie Fleischer had a goal and an assist, while Kellie Lajoie and Margreta Weber had a goal and a helper, respectively.
Endicott's Amy Meuse (Saugus, MA/Saugus) and Nicole Lawlor (Mansfield, MA/Mansfield) made a combined four saves for the shutout victory. Colby-Sawyer's Christina Quirk made seven saves for the Chargers. Endicott held an, 18-4, shots advantage.
Colby-Sawyer returns to action on Saturday afternoon as they host TCCC foe Roger Williams University at 3:00 PM. Endicott will have a rare Saturday off, as the Gulls will host Williams College on Sunday at 12:00 noon.
