BEVERLY, MA - Senior Cathy Sharp (Rutland, VT/Rutland) scored seven goals to power Endicott College past Roger Williams University, 14-8, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference semifinals, Thursday night at Endicott Stadium.
The second-seeded Gulls moved to 16-2 this season and will square off with Curry College (No. 5) Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM in the CCC final. The No. 6 Hawks finish their season at 9-9.
Sharp, who now has a CCC-best 66 goals in 18 contests, helped Endicott jump out to a 5-1 lead after 19 minutes of play, but the visitors answered with three goals, two of which came from Kary Rodgers (Brookfield, CT).
Rodgers paced RWU with four scores, but it wasn't enough as Sharp retaliated with two goals just over a minute apart. Rodgers ended the first-half scoring, drawing the Hawks to within two at the break as EC led 7-5.
Endicott freshman goaltender Molly Hamel (North Yarmouth, ME/Greely) took over for junior Erin Curry (Hampstead, NH/Gould Academy), who made five saves in 35 minutes of action in between the pipes. Hamel and the EC defense allowed just three goals over the second half. Hamel turned away egiht shots in goal.
The Gulls scored seven of the final eight times to earn the win, led by freshman Alex Pearce (Underhill, VT/Kimball Union Academy) and freshman Shiori Tachiwana (Kanagawa, Japan/Sakae Institute), who each scored two goals. Emily Judd (Peabody, MA/Peabody), Molly Moss (Yarmouth, ME/North Yarmouth Academy) and Kate Colley (Wells, ME/Wells) had one goal apiece for the Gulls while Jacqueline Criss (Westwood, MA), Libby Stout (Concord, MA) and Megan Ficociello (Homer, NY) added the other Roger Williams tallies.
