Hatfield and Sharp Will Captain the Gulls in 2006

Feb. 7, 2006

Beverly, MA - Heather Hatfield and Cathy Sharp have been selected as captains for the Endicott women's lacrosse team in 2006. Hatfield and Sharp will each begin their fourth season with the Gulls, and hope to continue the team's success from last season when the Gulls 2005 squad finished 13-5 overall.

The Gulls return nine members from the 2005 team that were Runners-Up in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship. Sharp leads all returners as the Gull's top scorer, notching 59 points in 18 games. Roaming the midfield again will be senior Lauren Gibbons (Shaker Heights, OH), the team's leader in both ground balls and draw controls. Gibbons currently holds Endicott women's lacrosse records in each of these categories. Senior classmate Susie Neikirk (Scotia, NY) led the Gulls in assists, highlighted by two consecutive games when the midfielder dished out four assists to Gulls shooters. Emily Judd (Peabody, MA) and Meaghan Mathers (Northampton, MA) will be back on defense for the Gulls, with junior keeper Erin Curry (Hampstead, NH) returning in goal.

The Gulls welcome a large freshman class in 2006. All of them bring great talent to the field and many will be expected to take on key roles right away. Molly Moss (Yarmouth, ME) and Molly Hamel (North Yarmouth, ME) were each selected as First Team High School All-American, while Sara Gunter (Kennebunk, ME) was honored as an Academic All-American. Classmates Alex Pearce (Underhill, VT) and Samantha Morin (Kennebunk, ME) should also make an immediate impact.

Endicott begins their season in Maryland, opening with a day-long tournament at McDaniel College on February 25th. They play their first full game, against Villa Julie College on February 26th.
