BEVERLY, MA - Endicott senior Cathy Sharp (Rutland, VT/Rutland) scored seven goals to help the Gulls defeat Commonwealth Coast Conference rival Gordon College for the first time ever, 12-10, on Senior Day Tuesday afternoon at Endicott College.
Sharp now has 55 goals in 15 games for Endicott, which improved to 13-2 overall and 7-1 in the CCC. Dani Zorn's (Mercer Island, WA) four goals paced the Fighting Scots (7-7, 5-3 CCC).
The teams swamped the first three goals before the Gulls rattled off five unanswered to take a 6-2 advantage with 15:22 remaining in the first. Gordon closed out the half on a 3-1 spurt, closing the gap to 7-5 at intermission.
The Fighting Scots clawed their way back into the game in the second behind a pair of Zorn tallies and Mary Snell's (Carlisle, MA) goal at the 21:06 mark that knotted the score at 8-8. Sharp rattled off two straight goals within three minutes to give the hosts a 10-8 cushion and freshman Sara Gunter (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk) netted two of the final three scores to seal the Endicott victory.
Gunter finished with the two goals, while Molly Moss (Yarmouth, ME/North Yarmouth Academy), Samantha Morin (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk) and Susie Neikirk (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) put home one goal apiece for the Gulls. Junior goaltender Erin Curry (Hampstead, NH/Gould Academy) turned away 11 shots for EC while Emily Judd (Peabody, MA/Peabody) caused six turnovers and picked up four groundballs and Moss added three caused turnovers and four groundballs.
Snell added two scores for Gordon, which also received one goal apiece from Kylie Hardin (Broomall, PA), Sarah Yoder (Conestoga, PA), Kim Otsuji (Farmington, MI) and Chrissy MacArthur (Hampton, NH). Shannon Angelos (Newton Square, PA) made nine saves in goal for the Scots.
Endicott rounds out its season Saturday afternoon at New England College (1).
