SPRINGFIELD, MA - Senior Cathy Sharp (Rutland, VT/Rutland) and freshman Sara Gunter (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk) each scored three goals as Endicott spoiled the home opener for Western New England College with a 12-9 victory.
Sophomore Emily Judd (Peabody, MA/Peabody) contributed two goals and two assists, and freshman Alex Pearce (Underhill, VT/Kimball Union Academy) had two goals as the Gulls won their fifth straight to improve to 5-1.
With the game tied 6-6 at halftime, Western New England College opened a 9-7 lead when senior Alyson Nowell (Feeding Hills, MA) scored her fourth goal with 22:10 left in the game. Sharp tied the contest at the 15:43 mark, then fired home the game winner nine seconds later.
Junior Audrey Kelton (Wilder, VT) scored twice for the Golden Bears (0-2). Junior goaltender Erin Curry (Hampstead, NH/Gould Academy) made 13 saves in the win.
Susie Neikirk Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) added two assists in the victory while Heater Hatfield (Tyngsboro, MA/Tyngsboro) and Shiori Tachiwana (Kanagawa, Japan/Sakae Institute) scored one goal apiece.
Sharp leads the team with 21 goals while Gunter is second with 12 tallies. Endicott will host Roger Williams Saturday afternoon (4).
