Softball Takes Two From UNE, 6-2 & 4-1

BIDDEFORD, Maine — The Endicott softball team swept the University of New England (UNE) by scores of 6-2 and 4-1 on Sunday evening at Nor'easter Diamond.

GAME ONE: Endicott 6, UNE 2

WP (7-3): Maria Hanchuk (South Windsor, Conn.) — 7 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 7 K
LP (4-7): Kara MacDonald (Medford, Mass.) — 6 1/3 IP, 10 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

Emma DaSilva (Bristol, R.I.) broke open a 2-2 tie in the seventh with a bases-clearing triple to lift Endicott to the game one victory.

Emma Hogan (Tyngsborough, Mass.) added a sac fly in the seventh to cap the scoring, while Raven Comtois (Milford, N.H.) and Julianna Roche (North Andover, Mass.) chipped in with RBI singles in the fifth and sixth, respectively. 


GAME TWO:  Endicott 4, UNE 1

WP (7-3): Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) — 7 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K
LP (2-10): Mia Micucci (South Portland, Maine) — 4 2/3 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 0 K

The Gulls scored two in the fifth and two more in the sixth to complete the sweep.

Katie Watts (Swampscott, Mass.) and Chloe Shapleigh (Lynnfield, Mass.) drove in runs in the fifth (double/walk) to take a 2-0 lead.

Meanwhile, Watts and Comtois followed with an RBI triple and single in the sixth to conclude the scoring.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • Endicott is 8-2 on the road this season.
  • The Gulls have won four straight.
  • UNE is 2-8 at home this spring.
  • Endicott is 45-13 all-time against the Nor'easters.

Endicott (18-6, 8-2 CCC) hosts MIT on Tuesday, April 18 at 3/5 PM. UNE (8-20, 5-5 CCC) visits Nichols on Saturday, April 22 at 12/2 PM.
