Softball Takes Two On Day Four In Florida

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Endicott softball team swept a pair of games against Clarkson (4-1) and Wisconsin Lutheran (11-3) on Thursday evening at DiamondPlex.

GAME ONE: Endicott 4, Clarkson 1

WP (3-1): Maria Hanchuk (South Windsor, Conn.) – 7 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 9 K
LP (3-3): Riley Page (Norwalk, Conn.) – 2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 2 K

The Gulls posted a three-run second inning and Hanchuk took care of the rest as the senior lefty fanned a season-high nine batters to pick up her third win of the season.

Christina Nowicki (Chelsea, Mass.) and Katie Watts (Swampscott, Mass.) both drove in runs in the second (single/double), while Lauren Misiaszek (Londonderry, N.H.) capped the scoring in the third with a single to center.

Misiaszek (2-for-3), Nowicki (2-for-3, 1 R), and Emma DaSilva (Bristol, R.I.) all finished with multi-hit games (2-for-3).


GAME TWO: Endicott 11, Wisconsin Lutheran 3

WP (1-0): Analise Grady (Reading, Mass.) – 6 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 K
LP (0-1): Kacey Mietsner (Elwood, Ill.) – 2 2/3 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 1 K

Senior All-American Raven Comtois (Milford, N.H.) belted a three-run homer (14th career) to left center in the first inning and the Gulls never looked back in the rout.

Endicott scored in every inning but the fifth, while Nowicki continued to provide a spark for the Gulls from the nine spot in the order via a 2-for-3, one run, three RBI, one walk stat line on the day.

Meanwhile, Grady notched her first career win in just her second career start to round out the list of highlights.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • Endicott is 2-1 all-time against Clarkson (back-to-back victories).
  • Today's game versus Wisconsin Lutheran was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
  • Nowicki finished today's doubleheader with a .667/.714/.833 slash line to go along with four hits (one double), two runs, four RBI, and one walk.

Endicott (5-3) concludes its spring break trip tomorrow against Wesleyan (9 AM) and Lakeland (11:30 AM) at the Auburndale Sports Complex (Field 1) in Auburndale, Fla.
