BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott softball team split a pair of games against No. 25 nationally ranked MIT, 4-7 and 2-0, in non-conference action on Tuesday evening.

GAME ONE: No. 25 MIT 7, Endicott 4

WP (14-2): Caroline Langmeyer (Upper Arlington, Ohio) – 6 1/3 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 8 K
LP (2-1): Analise Grady (Reading, Mass.) – 1 2/3 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
SV (1): Becca O'Connor (San Antonio, Texas) – 2/3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K

The Gulls nearly completed the comeback despite trailing 5-0 after three-and-a-half innings of play.

Raven Comtois (Milford, N.H.) jumpstarted the offense in the fourth with a solo blast to left field.

Julianna Roche (North Andover, Mass.) followed later in the frame with an RBI single to right center to make it 5-2.

From there, Endicott tacked on two more runs via an Emma DaSilva (Bristol, R.I.) RBI triple to right center and run-producing single to left center by Chrissy Marotto (Southington, Conn.) in the sixth.

The Engineers added some much-needed insurance with a pair of runs in the seventh before stranding the tying run at the plate in the bottom half on a double play to secure the game one victory.

GAME TWO: Endicott 2, No. 25 MIT 0

WP (8-3): Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) – 7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K
LP (7-1): O'Connor – 6 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K

Couto was the story in the nightcap for the Gulls.

The junior righty overpowered the Engineers after stranding runners at second and third in the first.

After recording her first strikeout of the contest to wrap up the opening frame, Couto retired all 18 batters she faced the rest of the way to notch her fourth career complete-game shutout (second this season).

Shapleigh and Lindsay Joubert (Haverhill, Mass.) provided the offense with an RBI single to right in the first and a solo homer to right field in the sixth, respectively.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

• Eight of the 11 fly outs Couto recorded in her start were pop-ups.
• The Gulls are 2-1 all-time against MIT.
• The Engineers have been nationally ranked in all three contests (No. 8, 3/12/01, W, 5-4).
• Comtois went 6-for-8 with one run scored, a double, and a homer in today's doubleheader.
