Softball Takes Two From Wellesley

WELLESLEY, Mass. – The Endicott softball team defeated Wellesley, 5-1 and 7-4 (6 inn.), in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

GAME ONE: Endicott 5, Wellesley 1

WP (2-0): Analise Grady (Reading, Mass.) – 7 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K
LP (0-4): Marisa Sgambati (Scottsdale, Ariz.) – 7 IP, 11 H, 5 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

Endicott never trailed in the contest en route to the game one victory.

Offensively, Raven Comtois (Milford, N.H.), Christina Nowicki (Chelsea, Mass.), and Katie Watts (Swampscott, Mass.) all drove in runs for the Gulls.

Comtois had an RBI single up the middle in the third (1-0), while Nowicki followed with a run-producing base knock to left in the fourth (2-0).

Watts capped the scoring in the sixth with a two-run single to right center.

In the circle, Grady registered her first career complete game behind three 1-2-3 innings (2nd/4th/7th) and some clutch pitching with runners in scoring position, highlighted by a bases loaded inning-ending double play in the third.

GAME TWO: Endicott 7, Wellesley 4 (6 inn.)

WP (1-0): Emma Sheehan (Plainville, Mass.) – 3 1/3 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
LP (1-2): Kate Liston (Boulder, Colo.) – 5 2/3 IP, 11 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, 2 K

The Gulls stormed back from a 4-1 deficit with two runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth before the game was eventually called due to darkness at the end of the frame.

In the fifth, Chloe Shapleigh (Lynnfield, Mass.) jumpstarted the offense with a two-run triple down the right field line to bring the game within one.

Watts followed with a sacrifice fly to center in the sixth to tie it before Comtois, Lauren Misiaszek (Londonderry, N.H.), and Shapleigh all notched RBI singles to help secure the sweep.
