Softball Sweeps Gordon, 4-1 & 8-4

WENHAM, Mass. — The Endicott softball team swept crosstown rival Gordon College, 4-1 & 8-4, in conference action on Thursday evening. 

GAME ONE: Endicott 4, Gordon 1

WP (4-2): Maria Hanchuk (South Windsor, Conn.) — 7 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
LP (6-8): Mara Little (Port Deposit, Md.) — 7 IP, 10 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 1 K

Chloe Shapleigh (Lynnfield, Mass.) broke open a scoreless contest in the fourth with a two-run blast to left center and the Gulls never looked back.

Christina Nowicki (Chelsea, Mass.) and Lauren Misiaszek (Londonderry, N.H.) added to the score with RBI singles in the sixth and seventh, respectively.


GAME TWO: Endicott 8, Gordon 4

WP (5-3): Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) — 4 2/3 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 0 K
LP (5-6): Emily Graham (Amesbury, Mass.) — 2/3 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 0 K
SV (1): Analise Grady (Reading, Mass.) — 2 1/3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K

The Gulls jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run homer from Emma DaSilva (Bristol, R.I.) and an RBI triple by Lindsay Joubert (Haverhill, Mass.), to eventually complete the sweep.

Gordon didn't go away quietly, however, as the Fighting Scots brought the game within two at 6-4 in the fifth inning before Dani Lear (Groveland, Mass.) put some breathing room on the scoreboard with a two-run single in the sixth.


BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • Nowicki went 4-for-7 with an RBI in each game.
  • Shapleigh also had at least one RBI in each contest (3-for-7, 2 runs, 3 RBI).
  • Grady closed the door on her first career save.
  • Endicott is 45-3 all-time against Gordon.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (12-4, 3-1 CCC) travels to Western New England tomorrow at 2:30/4:30 PM. Gordon (11-15, 1-5 CCC) visits Roger Williams this Friday at 2:30/4:30 PM.
