Softball Goes Undefeated On Final Day Of Spring Break Trip

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Endicott softball team concluded its spring break trip with a pair of wins against Wesleyan (2-0) and Lakeland (3-1) on Friday evening at the Auburndale Sports Complex.

GAME ONE: Endicott 2, Wesleyan (Conn.) 0

WP (2-2): Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) – 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 13 K
LP (3-1): Brooklin Williams (Marion, Ohio) – 6 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K

Couto was nothing short of spectacular in game one as the junior righty fanned a career-high 13 batters in the victory.

She also recorded four 1-2-3 innings (2nd-5th) and retired 14 batters in a row beginning with the last two outs in the contest's opening frame.

Offensively, the Gulls scored solo tallies in the fifth and sixth innings with the aid of two miscues.


GAME TWO: Endicott 3, Lakeland 1

WP (1-0): Rania Barton (Manchester, N.H.) – 6 2/3 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 5 K
LP (3-2): Skylar Hall (Negaunee, Mich.) – 7 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K
SV (1): Abigail Gilbert (Millbury, Mass.) – 1/3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K

Lauren Misiaszek (Londonderry, N.H.) notched an RBI single in the first inning, while Emma DaSilva (Bristol, R.I.) belted her first career homer to center field in the fourth to highlight the offense.

Barton and Gilbert also produced career firsts in the victory.

Barton earned her first collegiate win, while Gilbert shut the door in the seventh for her first career save.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • Couto's 13 strikeout day ranks tied for seventh all-time in program history.
  • Her previous career-high was nine strikeouts (WNE, 4/16/22; UNE, 4/9/22).
  • Couto only allowed two runners into scoring position.
  • DaSilva hit a two-out triple (first career) in game one, which led to Endicott's second run against Wesleyan.
  • Endicott is 3-0 all-time against Wesleyan (3/19/20; W, 5-2 | 3/12/19; W, 6-0 | both in Florida).
  • First-ever meeting between Endicott and Lakeland.
