Mepham, Frazao Earn United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Honors

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott men's soccer captains Joe Mepham (Sudbury, Mass.) and Tiago Frazao (Trumbull, Conn.) have received United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America honors.

Mepham earned a spot on the first team, while Frazao was selected to the third team.

In total, 42 Division III student-athletes across the country were named to the Scholar All-America list, which is comprised of three teams.

Mepham is now the second student-athlete in program history to claim Scholar All-America First Team honors joining Evan Couchot '20 (Mason, Ohio) on the list.

The men's soccer program has produced four United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America award winners since the program started in 2018.

By virtue of earning Scholar All-America honors, Mepham and Frazao also garnered United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-East Region First and Second Team accolades, respectively.

In order to be eligible for United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region and All-America teams, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average (GPA), play in a minimum of 75% of a team's contest, and be an elite player as supported by playing honors (All-America, All-Region, minimum All-Conference). A student-athlete must also be at least a junior athletically and meet the highest standards of ethics and sportsmanship as confirmed by a coach on their nomination form.

Mepham currently sports a 3.49 GPA as a biology/biotechnology major.

His internship experiences include working at the DEVCOM Soldier Center and the Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge.

While at the DEVCOM Soldier Center, Mepham served as a biology intern conducting biomedical experiments and analysis to improve and strengthen ballistic protection; screened and tested Escherichia coli strains to develop antimicrobial hygiene wipes; and was chosen to present his findings at the Army Forces Command Scholars Research Symposium.

His time with the Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge included researching pollinators, native plants, and animals. He also set up pollinator gardens to improve the local population of pollinators and created lesson plans for school groups on local wildlife.

Mepham has earned one Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Academic All-Conference award and multiple Dean's List citations.

This season, Mepham compiled 25 points (6 G, 13 A) in 21 games played (all starts).

The 2022 CCC Offensive Player of the Year ranked first in the league in assists, fourth in points, and seventh in goals.

Nationally, Mepham is positioned fifth in total assists and ninth in assists per game (0.62) among his Division III peers.

His other postseason awards this fall include All-CCC First Team honors and United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team accolades.


TIAGO FRAZAO | JR. | M

Frazao currently boasts a 3.91 GPA as an international business major with a minor in Spanish.

His internship experiences include two placements with the Barnum Financial Group.

Frazao served as a wealth strategies intern (May 2021 – August 2022) in his first stint with the company before entering their advisor scholar internship program (June – July 2022).

During his time with the Barnum Financial Group, Frazao has assisted over 40 financial advisors; entered clients' financial data into several work-related platforms; improved clients' financial outlooks by entering and modeling scenarios involving retirement plans and stock options into applicable work-related platforms; sat in on client meetings, portfolio construction, life insurance sales pitches, and more; and made calls and set up appointments for prospective clients to maintain their group life insurance benefits through Barnum's Transition Solutions programs.

He also netted first place honors in the Barnum Financial Group's advisor scholar internship program with his strategies to revive their social media presence.

Alongside his internship experiences, Frazao is a member of Sigma Beta Delta, the Endicott Scholars Program, EC L.E.A.D., and the College's Investment Club.

Frazao has received one CCC Academic All-Conference award and four Dean's List honors.

In 14 games played (all starts), Frazao registered six goals and six assists for 18 points.

The 2022 All-CCC First Team honoree ranked seventh in the conference in goals, fourth in assists, and sixth in points.

Frazao also played a major role in Endicott ranking second in the league in total goals (40) and total points (116) from his midfield position.

His other postseason honors this fall include United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second Team accolades.


YEAR IN REVIEW

Endicott posted a 12-5-4 overall record and a 7-1-1 mark in league play.

The Gulls earned the No. 1 seed in the CCC Tournament and an automatic bye into the semifinal round, but ultimately fell to Suffolk, 2-0, for a shot at the championship.

Endicott's 2022 season featured several historic moments, including earning the program's first-ever national ranking and becoming the first team in school history to play a regular season game against a Power 5 opponent
