Men’s Soccer Takes Down Western New England On Homecoming Weekend, 1-0

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's soccer team defeated Western New England, 1-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Friday night at Hempstead Stadium as part of Homecoming and Family Weekend.

The triumph improves Endicott to 6-3-2 overall and 1-1-1 in CCC action, while Western New England falls to 5-4-2 overall and 2-1-1 in CCC play.

In the 44th minute, Western New England saw one of its best chances of the night thwarted by Gulls' goalkeeper Kyle Rosa (Norton, Mass.) as he turned away a dangerous free kick bid.

Endicott capitalized on the momentum from Rosa's stop later in the contest when Max Karkos (Wethersfield, Conn.) buried the eventual game-winner into the lower left corner of the net at the 52:08 mark.

Karkos netted his third goal of the season off feeds by point co-leaders Tiago Frazao (Trumbull, Conn.) and Joe Mepham (Sudbury, Mass.). Both Frazao and Mepham now have 12 points each on the year.

The Golden Bears didn't go away quietly, however, as Endicott needed two header clearances at the goal line from Spencer Butterworth (Topsfield, Mass.) and Joe Akisik (Sudbury, Mass.) to come away with the victory in the closing minutes.

In goal, Rosa finished with three saves to push his record to 1-0-1 on the season and also earn his first clean sheet of the year.
