WPI Tops Men’s Soccer, 3-1

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's soccer team lost to WPI, 3-1, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium.

Tiago Frazao (Trumbull, Conn.) scored the Gulls' lone goal in the 86th minute with a low shot near the penalty area off a feed by Joe Akisik (Sudbury, Mass.) from the left post.

Meanwhile, Luke Savoie (Mansfield, Mass.), Anthony Previte (Andover, Mass.), and Francesco Valagussa (Arlington, Mass.) all scored for the Engineers ('29, '43, '54) in the victory.

In goal, Kevin Pelletier (Topsfield, Mass.) and Zach Regulbuto (Somers, Conn.) split the first and second halves, respectively, for the Gulls.

Endicott outshot WPI, 18-14, but the Engineers made their chances count as three out of four shots on goal found the twine (one save, first half).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • WPI is 2-0-1 on the road this season.
  • Frazao buried his fourth career goal.
  • Akisik dished out his first career assist.

Endicott (2-2-1) travels to Salem State on Tuesday, September 13 at 7 PM. WPI (2-0-2) visits Johnson & Wales tomorrow at 2:30 PM.
