Men’s Ice Hockey Thumps Nichols, 6-1

HARRISVILLE, R.I. — The Endicott men's ice hockey team defeated Nichols, 6-1, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup on Friday night at Levy Rink. 

Endicott opened the floodgates in the first period as Jackson Sterrett (Hendersonville, Tenn.) potted a power-play goal at the 13:15 mark.

Later in the frame, Cass Bowes (Sturgeon County, Alberta) and Kevin Craig (Hyannis, Mass.) both found the back of the net (14:32 | PP — 16:32) and the Gulls were never threatened the rest of the way.

Thirty-two seconds into the middle period, Sterrett netted his second goal of the matchup, while Jimmy McIsaac (Winnipeg, Manitoba) supplied a tally right before intermission (18:26).

Meanwhile, Ryan Willett (Bayville, N.Y.) buried a power-play goal at 8:52 of the third period to put the game away.

In goal, Atticus Kelly (St. Paul, Minn) compiled 13 saves in the victory to improve to 7-3-3 on the season (19-3-5 career). 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls expanded its winning streak to 16 straight contests against the Bison.
  • Andrew Kurapov (Corvallis, Ore.), Zach Mazur (Lancaster, N.Y.), and Collin Kleiser (Churchville, Pa.) all generated multi-assist games.
  • Sterrett produced his third multi-goal game this season (fourth career).
  • Kleiser led all student-athletes with a +3 rating.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (15-5-5, 12-3-3 CCC) has locked in the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CCC Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. The Gulls will host a semifinal matchup on Saturday, February 24; time and opponent will be determined based on this weekend's results around the conference.
