DUDLEY, Mass. — The Endicott men's basketball team fell to Nichols College, 71-70, in a back-and-forth contest on Tuesday night.
Down by 11 (65-54) with 10:28 remaining, the Gulls went on a 17-4 run which was capped off by a Louis Ellis (Lynnfield, Mass.) three-pointer to give Endicott its first second-half lead over the Bison, 70-69 with 1:27 to go.
Nichols guard DeAnte Bruton (New London, Conn.) then hit a jump shot from the top of the key with just 56 seconds left in the game to give Nichols a 71-70 advantage that held true the rest of the way.
Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) paced Endicott with 16 points in addition to six rebounds. Matt McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine.) and Ellis closely followed with 13 points each.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Gulls still hold an 18-17 advantage in the all-time series.
- Bruton led Nichols and all scorers with 27 points.
- Ellis' 13 points was a new career-high for the junior guard.

Endicott (9-4, 3-1 CCC) will host Gordon on Thursday, January 9 at 7:30 PM. Nichols (8-4, 3-0 CCC) will host Roger Williams on Thursday, January 9 at 7:30 PM.
