BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's basketball team defeated the University of New England (UNE), 87-79, on Wednesday evening to earn their first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory of the season.
Leading at the start of the second half, 38-32, the Gulls proceeded to go on a 22-14 run over the opening 6:30 of the second half to open their largest lead of the game (60-48). Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.) led Endicott on the run, scoring 15 of the 22 points.
UNE then cut into the Endicott lead, making it a five-point game (74-69) with just over five minutes to go. The Gulls then brought the lead back to double digits with an 11-7 run giving themselves an eleven point lead (87-76) with just fifty seconds left.
Brown led Endicott with a double-double scoring a game-high 29 points and securing a game-high 14 rebounds 13 of which came on the defensive end. Matt McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) notched a double-double of his own with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott now leads the all-time series over UNE 26-11.
- Brown and McDevitt both secured their first double-doubles of the season.
- 18 points is a season-high for McDevitt.
- The Gulls won their first conference game for the second season in a row and for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

Endicott (4-3, 1-0 CCC) will host Western New England on Saturday, December 7 at 3 PM. UNE (5-4, 0-2 CCC) will host Salve Regina on Saturday, December 7 at 3 PM.
