Men's Basketball Battles Past Williams, 88-85

SALEM, Mass. — The Endicott men's basketball team defeated Williams College, 88-85, on Sunday afternoon in the Salem State Holiday Classic at Twohig Gymnasium. 

Trailing throughout most of the game, the Gulls took their first lead, 58-57, when Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) hit a three with 10:04 left in the matchup.

From there, the lead changed 10 times and no team produced a lead bigger than five points.

The Gulls finally broke away from Williams at the 2:31 mark on a layup by Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.) and a three-pointer by Matt McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) at 2:01 (82-77) before closing the game out at the line going 6-for-6 at the charity stripe.

McDevitt led Endicott with a game-high 30 points, while Echevarria notched 21 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Brown also added 18 points and added nine rebounds in the victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • This was the fourth meeting between the two programs in the all-time series. 
  • Prior to today's contest, Endicott and Williams had last met on January 3, 2015. 
  • Endicott only led for 3:45 in the game. 
  • The Gulls earned their first win in program history over Williams today. 

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (8-3) will face Clark University on Monday, December 30 in the second day of the Salem State Holiday Classic at 4 PM. Williams (4-4) will play Salem State on Monday, December 30 in the second day of the Salem State Holiday Classic.
