BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women’s tennis team is now 9-0 (6-0 CCC) following a 9-0 shutout win over Curry in CCC action on Saturday afternoon. The Gulls took all doubles and singles matches, dropping the Colonels record to 5-5 (3-4 CCC) on the season.
Endicott will host Plymouth State on Wednesday, October 5th at 3:30 pm on the South Campus Courts in their next match. Curry travels to Colby-Sawyer tomorrow for a 2:00 pm match with the Chargers.
The senior \#1 doubles duo of Kate Cioffi (Essex, Vt.) and Emily Annis (Hampton, N.H.) improved to 3-1 against conference opponents after an 8-3 win over Curry sophomores Megan Mulrooney (South Boston, Mass.) and Emily Mongello (Plymouth, Mass.). In \#2 doubles, Endicott junior Laura MacLeod (Mashpee, Mass.) and her freshman partner Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine) edged Lauren Chuha (Reading, Mass.) and Kate Johnson (Beverly, Mass.) by a score of 8-6 and are have four wins to zero losses at \#2 doubles against CCC teams.
The Gulls completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win at the \#3 doubles match, played by Gulls sophomore Emilie Cloutier (Lewiston, Maine) and freshman Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) who are still unbeaten at that spot at 5-0 overall, 3-0 in CCC matches.
In singles play, Cioffi defeated Mulrooney 6-1, 6-3 to stay unbeaten at conference \#1 singles matches at 6-0. Cloutier followed with a win at \#2 singles, 6-3, 6-1 over Curry’s Mongello while Gulls freshmen Heacox and Egbert each won in straight sets at \#3 and \#4 singles, respectively.
At the \#5 singles spot, junior Gina Pinciaro (Beverly, Mass.) defeated Johnson 6-1, 6-0 and in \#6 singles, freshmen Chrissy Martel (Westbrook, Conn.) took down Colonels sophomore Elizabeth Zarkades (Beverly, Mass.) 6-2, 6-1. Pinciaro and Martel are both unbeaten on the season at 5-0 and 2-0.
