SALEM, Mass. - The Endicott women's tennis team won 8-1 over Salem State on Monday afternoon in non-conference action, improving their 2011-12 record to 16-3 overall as the team looks ahead to their final spring match before the NCAA Divsion III Tournament begins.

The Gulls will visit Simmons on Saturday, April 28th for a 3:00 pm match in their final warmup before their first NCAA Tournament appearance since May of 2009.

Only a loss at #4 singles kept the Blue and Green from a full sweep over the Vikings as Endicott won all three doubles matches before taking five out of six singles contests.

Seniors Kate Cioffi (Essex, Vt.) and Emily Annis (Hampton, N.H.) took the top flight in doubles play 8-2, senior Laura MacLeod (Mashpee, Mass.) and freshman Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine) narrowly took #2 doubles 8-6 while sophomore Emilie Cloutier (Lewiston, Maine) and freshman Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) earned an 8-2 win at the third position.

Cioffi earned her second point of the day at #1 singles, winning on a tiebreaker set 6-1, 3-6 (10-6).  Cloutier did the same, edging her Viking opponent 6-4, 1-6 (10-6) at the second position.

Three, five and six singles spots all won in straights thanks to stellar play by Heacox, Egbert and junior Gina Pinciaro (Beverly, Mass.).
