Women's Tennis Routs Salve Regina for First Conference Win
BEVERLY, Mass. – For the second straight contest, the Endicott women’s tennis team was 8-1 winners on their home courts. This time, it was the Salve Regina Seahawks who the Gulls sent packing as Endicott picked up its second win of the season, and the first in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Saturday.

The Gulls got off to a great start, easily sweeping the three doubles matches. First and third doubles both took their first-to-eight matches without dropping a game, while the tandem of Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Me.) and Laura McLeod (Mashpee, Mass.) were 8-3 winners at second doubles.

Emily Annis (Hampton, N.H.) and Katie Cioffi (Essex, Vt.), who were the first doubles team, also won easily at singles. Annis won at the fourth spot 6-0, 6-2, while Cioffi was the top seed and was victorious 6-3, 6-0 over Nichol Stevens (Chester, Conn.).

Emilie Cloutier (Lewiston, Me.) won 6-1, 6-1 at second singles and freshman Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) beat sophomore Ana Gwozdz (Taunton, Mass.) 6-2, 6-2 at the third spot.

Erica Shay (Ashburnham, Mass.) salvaged the lone point of the day for the Seahawks. The freshman took care of Rachel Fenstermaker (Somerset, Mass.) 6-7 (5), 5-7.

Salve drops to 0-1 on the year and in the conference, while the Gulls improve to 2-0. The Seahawks will host in-state rival Rhode Island College on Thursday while Endicott will next be in action Wednesday when they travel to UMass Dartmouth.
