Amy Heacox takes CCC Rookie of the Week honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Endicott freshman Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) took this week's women's tennis Rookie of the Week award from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) after going undefeated in two singles and two doubles matches.

Heacox remained unbeaten on the 2011 season, a perfect 4-0 at both \#3 singles and \#3 doubles overall, after posting wins over Roger Williams and St. Michael's College this week.

In a 6-3 team win over Roger Williams, a team with a higher preseason ranking than the Gulls, Heacox beat her singles opponent 7-6, 6-3, then teammed up with Emilie Cloutier (Lewiston, Maine) to take doubles 8-1. Over the weekend, Endicott traveled to Vermont to face NCAA Division II school St. Michael's and scored a 8-1 team victory. Heacox did her part, winning 6-3, 7-6 in singles and 8-1 once again with Cloutier.

The Gulls will host CCC opponent Wentworth on Wednesday, September 21st at 4:00 pm before traveling to UMass Dartmouth on Thursday.
