Beverly, MA--In the 1st round of NCAA Tournament play, the EC women's soccer team defeated Emmanuel College 1-0. With the win, EC advances to the second round, and travels to Wheaton College for the Regional Final Four.
For Students, there will be a bus leaving at 12pm to Wheaton College. If interested, students should sign-up in the Student Activites Center.
Outshooting their opponent 19-2, Endicott could not seem to find the back of the net. Scoring the only goal of the match, in the 80th minute, was sophomore Jillian Zagura (Hudson, MA). Off of an indirect kick, Jessica Scholz sent the ball into the box, and found Zagura, who tipped the ball over the goalkeeper into the back of the net.
Endicott's goalkeeper Sarah Nichols, made two saves, earning the shutout, while Kanee Chlebda of Emmanuel made 18 saves.
This is the first win for women's soccer in the NCAA Tournament, and the team improves their overall record to 18-2-2.
Wheaton is the top seed in the Region and hosts the Regional Finals this weekend. Endicott plays Amherst College at 1:30pm on Saturday, November 15th.
