NEWPORT, Rhode Island -- In conference play, the Endicott women's soccer team defeated Salve Regina University by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday, September 10th. Salve opened the scoring when freshman midfielder Lindsay D'Agnelli (Natick, MA) found the back of the net. Less than a minute later, junior Leah Walters (Brookline, MA) tied the score, giving Endicott the much-needed energy towards the latter part of the first half.
In the win, junior goalkeeper Sarah Nichols (Middletown, CT) made a big save in the second half when she denied a penalty kick by Salve midfielder D'Agnelli, preventing the Seahawks from taking the lead.
The Gulls took the lead when senior defender Jess Scholz (North Kingstown, RI) scored off of a direct kick, ten minutes into the second half. Endicott scored the game-winning goal when sophomore Katie Cederberg (North Grafton, MA) found freshman Meredith Paprocki (Candia, NH) at the top of the box in the 87th minute, awarding Paprocki with her first collegiate goal.
Salve would narrow the goal gap in the final seconds of play, when freshman Breann Carello (Smithfield, RI) scored on a direct kick. However, time expired before Salve could generate another attack, granting Endicott their second conference win.
