Sept. 9, 2003
In a rematch of the 2002 Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship, the Endicott College women's soccer team hosted conference winner Nichols College on Saturday, September 6th. Playing in the new athletic stadium, and competing in their first home game, the Gulls beat Nichols 2-1, and acquired their first conference win in the 2003 season.
Scoring two goals, freshman Caitlin D'Amario lead the Endicott attack. Off of a perfectly placed corner kick by Stacey Lubas (Beverly, MA), D'Amario found the back of the net in the 5th minute, giving Endicott the lead and D'Amario credit for the first women's soccer goal scored in the new athletic stadium. Ten minutes later, Nichols tied the score thanks to Lisa Benson. The score would remain the same until the 68th minute when off of an assist from sophomore Jillian Zagura (Hudson, MA), D'Amario scored her second goal of the night. The score remained 2-1 for the duration of the game, awarding Endicott their first conference victory in the new athletic stadium.
The women's soccer game was one of three sports to play Saturday, which marked the home openers for football and men's soccer as well. The Gulls resume play when they travel to Salve Regina on Wednesday, September 9th at 4pm.
