CCC TOURNAMENT: Softball Bows Out Of Playoffs Against Nichols, 2-1

BEVERLY, Mass. — The first-seeded Endicott softball team lost to third-seeded Nichols, 2-1, on Thursday afternoon in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament.

WP (8-8): Olivia Pedro (Moscow, Pa.) — 7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
LP (11-7): Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) — 5.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K

Tied 1-1 in the fifth, Nichols scored the eventual game-winning run on an obstruction play at home plate.

Ava Slavinsky (Redding, Conn.) lifted a fly ball to right field that was caught by Gulls' outfielder Paige Berdos (Plainville, Mass.).

Berdos hauled in the fly ball in the right center gap and threw a dart to home plate up the third base line; however, obstruction was called for blocking the plate resulting in a run for the Bison.

From there, Pedro retired the next six batters she faced to lock up the victory.

Mia Mitchell (Medford, Mass.) drove in the lone run for Endicott in the fourth on a fielder's choice.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Mitchell registered her 19th RBI of the season (third on the team).
  • Pedro earned her fourth straight win.
  • Endicott was the visiting team in today's contest due to the new playoff format that coincides with NCAA Tournament guidelines.
