BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott softball senior pitcher Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) and freshman right-handed pitcher Kristen Beebe (Brentwood, N.H) have been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Pitcher and Rookie of the Week, respectfully.
Couto went 3-0 in three appearances (two starts) for the Gulls (5-1 overall, 4-0 CCC). The senior righty logged 14.2 IP scoreless frames via six hits, zero walks, and 14 strikeouts.
The senior took a perfect game into the fifth inning (spoiled with two outs) against UNE and struck out nine total in the six-inning shutout performance, which the Gulls won 8-0 in six innings.
She also earned a relief appearance victory against Wellesley (1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K) and blanked Nichols on Sunday over seven shutout innings, three hits, no walks, and four punchouts
Beebe went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 11 innings pitched for the Gulls. The freshman hurler also struck out 11 scattered around seven hits and three walks
Both wins came in conference play as Beebe went six scoreless against UNE (3 H, 2 BB, 8 K) and another five innings versus Nichols yielding one unearned run on four hits, one walk, and three strikeouts.
This is Couto's sixth career CCC Player of the Week award and Beebe's third career CCC Rookie of the Week award.
