Softball Goes Undefeated In Spring Break Tripleheader

CLERMONT, Fla. — The Endicott softball team defeated Framingham State (5-2), Old Westbury (8-0, 6 inn.), and Westminster (9-1, 5 inn.) on Thursday evening at Legends Way.

GAME ONE: Endicott 5, Framingham State 2

WP (2-1): Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) — 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
LP (1-4): Caroline Hughes (Canton, Mass.) — 7 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
SV (1): Hadley Marchand () — 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K

Chloe Shapleigh (Lynnfield, Mass.) broke open a 2-2 tie in the third via a two-run double to right center, and the Gulls let Couto and Marchand handle the rest for the first win of the day.

Emma Hogan (Tyngsborough, Mass.) also provided a game-tying RBI single up the middle in the second to highlight the offense.

GAME TWO: Endicott 8, Old Westbury 0 (6 inn.)

WP (2-1): Kristen Beebe (Brentwood, N.H.) — 6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 6 K
LP (0-1): Taylor Murphy (Bayville, N.J.) — 3.1 IP, 2 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 5 BB, 2 K

Beebe pitched her second gem of the season as the freshman only gave up a two-out single, retired the last 10 batters she faced, and allowed just two runners to reach scoring position.

Offensively, Katie Watts (Swampscott, Mass.) paced the Gulls with three RBI from the two-hole.

Watts had a run-producing single in the second (1-0), a sac fly in the fourth (5-0), and another RBI knock in the fifth (7-0).

GAME THREE: Endicott 9, Westminster 1 (5 inn.)

WP (1-0): Emma Sheehan (Plainville, Mass.) — 3 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 K
LP (1-5): Haley Miller (O'Fallon, Mo.) — 3.1 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
SV (1): Analise Grady (Reading, Mass.) — 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K

Rania Barton (Manchester, N.H.) drove in the game-winning run in the fifth to give the Gulls their second straight mercy-rule victory and third win overall on the evening.

Mia Mitchell (Medford, Mass.) and Christina Nowicki (Chelsea, Mass.) also collected two RBI apiece to field the offense.
