BEVERLY, MA - The Commonwealth Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, Jenn Elwell (Tewksbury, MA/Shawsheen Tech) was also named ECAC Pitcher of the Week honors after leading the Gulls to their fifth straight CCC Championship.
Elwell went a perfect 3-0 on the week with a 0.00 earned run average to lift the Gulls to the conference championship. In 19 innings of work, she allowed nine hits, walked five, and struck out 12, allowing only one extra base hit. The former GNAC Pitcher of the Year was one of EC's most effective pitchers this season going 12-2 in 19 appearances. Elwell threw 11 complete games going 94 innings allowing just 16 runs and posting an ERA of 1.53. She also walked just 18 batters while striking out 76 and holding opponents to a .182 batting average.
The Gulls will head to Providence, RI for the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament hosted by Rhode Island College. EC will take on the Keene State College Owls in its first game of the double elimination tournament on Thursday May 10 at 12:00 p.m.
