Final Stats

Kissimmee, FL - Jen Elwell (Tyngsboro, MA/Shawsheen Tech.) and Jackie Collier (Swampscott, MA/Bishop Fenwick) each pitched complete games leading Endicott to wins over Allegheny College and Colorado College.

Elwell went seven innings allowing just one run and five hits while striking out five and walking just two, leading EC to a 6-1 win over the Allegheny College Gators. The Gulls jumped out to an early lead scoring a run in the top of the first inning when Jenna Lazar (Milton, MA/Milton) led the game off with a single, then came around to score on an Allegheny error.

EC made it 2-0 in the fourth inning when Sarah Spaziano (Norton, MA/Norton) singled and came around to score after Casey Shanley (Billerica, MA/Billerica) reached base on an error by Gator catcher Emmalynn Sigrist (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North).

Endicott tacked on three more runs in the fifth inning, sparked by Maria Mangine's (Lockport, NY/Lockport) two out walk. Spaziano reached on an error followed by an RBI single from Shanley. Spaziano and Shanley would also score, making it 5-0.

Jenna Lazar once again showed why she is such an impact player as she drew a walk, stole second, and then advanced to third and scored on a pair of passed balls giving Endicott a 6-0 lead.

The Gators managed to plate a run in the sixth inning taking advantage of an EC fielding error. Elizabeth Burr (Farmdale, OH/Badger) reached on the error then scored when Rachel Ryan (West Salem, OH/Northwestern) tripled to left field. Endicott secured the 6-1 win when Elwell (1-0) shut down the Gators in the seventh inning.

Jackie Collier went the distance in game two leading the Gulls to a 4-3 win over Colorado College. Collier went seven innings allowing three runs on seven hits while walking just two batters. The win improves Collier's season record to 2-0 and moves the Gulls record to 3-3.

The two teams battled back and forth the entire game with Endicott scoring a run in each of the first three innings. Colorado College tied the game in fourth but EC was able to pick up the game winner in the fifth inning when Dottie Bartsch (Salisbury, MA/Triton Regional) singled and scored after Lazar continued to create problems for opposing teams on the base paths. Lazar singled, but was picked off at second allowing Bartsch to score.

EC got a solid game out of Meghan Sargent (Salisbury, MA/Triton Regional) who finished the game one-for-one with a walk and two RBI. Spaziano also played well, finishing the game one-for-three with two runs scored.

The Gulls will continue their play at the 2007 Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida on Wednesday when they take on Millikin at 11:00 am and Hamilton at 1:00 pm.
