Cambridge, Mass. – Day two of the MIT
Invitational was strangely similar to the previous day as the
Endicott men’s volleyball won twice, including another
five-set thrilling victory this time over Emmanuel College and a
3-0 shutout of Emerson College to run their current win-streak to
seven matches.
The Gulls finished the tournament in second place, just behind
host MIT who also went 4-0 but edged the Blue and Green due to
tiebreaker rules.

The Blue and Green started off day two exactly the same way they
started day one, with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Emmanuel thanks in
part to 15 kills from Jeremy Siden (Natick, Mass.) and strong
offensive outputs by Josh Anderson (La Canada, Calif.) and Matt
Devendorf (Glastonbury, Conn.) who contributed with nine kills
apiece. Siden also had one solo block and four assisted blocks in
the win.
Junior libero Andrew Slocum (Burnt Hills, N.Y.), who was named to
the All-Tournament Team, had a team-high 12 digs. Freshman Carter
Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) added eight digs to go along with 18 set
assists in an impressive defensive effort by the Gulls. Junior
setter Jeremy Schlosser (Emmaus, Pa.) dished out 21 assists and was
also named to the All-Tournament Team along with Slocum.
Freshman Travis Netherton, who had seven kills on the day, was
also a presence at the net with five block assists while junior
Joshua Bruno (Andover, Mass.) led his team with two solo blocks and
four assisted blocks.

In a straight set victory over Emerson, the Gulls saw nine
different players record kills including eight from Travis
Netherton and seven from Zeke Kubisch (Bethlehem, N.Y.). The Blue
and Green had a .384 attack percentage as a team with just seven
errors in the match.
Schlosser was once again an efficient passer with 22 assists.
Schlosser also had six digs while freshman Jordan Ingerick
(Fairport, N.Y.) added five digs in two sets played.
The Gulls, following their four-win weekend in Cambridge, are now
17-9 (9-2 NECVA NE) having won 11 of their last 12 matches.
Endicott will travel to NECVA New England rival Daniel Webster
College on Tuesday, March 8th for a 7:00 pm match.
