Host Rivier College handed Endicott its second consecutive loss to close out the season-opening Rivier Tournament in men’s volleyball action Sunday afternoon. The Raiders took the match by scores of 25-18, 25-16, 15-25, and 25-18, dropping the Gulls record to 1-2 on the year. 

Jeremy Siden (Natick, Mass.) paced Endicott’s offensive attack for the second consecutive match after recording 11 kills. Zeke Kubisch (Bethlehem, N.Y.) and Matt Devendorf (Glastonbury, Conn.) added seven kills apiece for the Gulls, who struggled with errors in the final three sets. 

Jeremy Schlosser (Emmaus, Pa.) and Carter Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) combined for 33 assists for Endicott, which hosts Lesley on Thursday (Jan. 20) at 7:00pm in its first conference and home match of the season.

Match one vs. Lasell:

Endicott outlast Lasell in five sets (25-21, 18-25, 25-10, 21-25, 15-12) in the first match of the Rivier Tournament and 2011 season.

Zeke Kubisch and Jeremy Siden combined for 27 kills to pace Endicott’s offensive attack. Kubisch finished with 17 kills and four aces while Siden added ten kills for the Gulls. 

Junior Andrew Slocum (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) tallied 13 digs while classmate Joshua Bruno (Andover, Mass.) registered a team-high six blocks in the win. 

Match two vs. Elmira:

Elmira College handed Endicott its first loss of the 2011 season after clipping the Gulls in four sets (21-25, 22-25, 25-19, 23-25). 

Jeremy Siden’s led the Endicott (1-1) attack with a team-high nine kills. Sophomore Matt Devendorf chipped in seven kills while junior setter Jeremy Schlosser recorded a team-high 33 assists in the loss. 

Freshman Travis Netherton (Waukegan, Ill.) tallied six blocks in his second collegiate match.
