-- Day One --

Baruch defeats SUNY IT, 3-1 (22-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-22)

Baruch (7-9) rallied from a set down to defeat SUNY IT 3-1. The Bearcats dropped the first set 22-25 before rattling off three straight (25-13, 25-14, 25-22) to pick up the win. 

Pablo Oliveira (Uberlandia, Brazil) and Eryk Kowalski (Zabno, Poland) paced the victors with 11 kills apiece while sophomore setter Jesus Echevarria (San Juan, Puerto Rico) recorded a match-high 27 assists.   Takeshi Kawahigashi (Tokyo, Japan) and Echevarria led the defensive effort with six digs each. Oliveira chipped in a match-high five aces for Baruch.

SUNY IT (6-4) was led by Dylan Krowicki’s (Little Falls, N.Y.) 11 kills and two blocks. The Wildcats also received 25 assists from senior setter Jonathan Brochu (Latham, N.Y.). Sophomore Jeff Coon (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) chipped in eight kills, five blocks, and two assists. Tysheem Foy-Carter recorded a team-high 10 digs while junior outside hitter Ryan Meller (Eden, N.Y.) added seven. 

MIT defeats Hilbert, 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-19)

MIT defeated Hilbert 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-19) in their first match at the Endicott Men’s Volleyball Invitational behind 10 kills from freshman outside hitter Billy Evans (San Diego, Calif.) and another seven swings a piece from Patrick Vatterott (St. Louis, Mo.) and Garrett Winther (Broomfield, Colo.). 

The Engineers setter, senior Tim Lee (Natick, Mass.), dished out 26 assists while adding three digs, two aces and two blocks. MIT’s Caine Jette (Haiku, Hawaii) had seven digs to lead the Engineers. 

For the Royals, both Adam Weaver (Stow, Ohio) and RJ Sykora (Stow, Ohio) had nine kills with setter Dan Wolfe (Rochester, N.Y.) dishing out 26 assists. 

Defensively for Hilbert, Weaver and Gary Gawera (Eden, N.Y.) were strong with 14 and 13 digs, respectively. Weaver was also a presence at the net with four blocks while Tony Blasz (Eden, N.Y.) added three more stops. 

EMU defeats Hilbert, 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-20)

In its first match of the day, Eastern Mennonite took care of Hilbert 3-0. Chris Moise (Hollywood, Fla.) logged a team-high eight kills and five blocks for the Royals. John Grove (Glen Allen, Va.) and Frankie Coto (Miami, Fla.) added seven kills each. Coto also contributed five blocks in the win. Augusto Lau (Miami, Fla.) recorded a match-high 31 assists while Derek Sauder (Leola, Pa.) chipped in a team-high eight digs.

Hilbert’s offensive attack was led by RJ Sykora (Stow, Ohio) and Adam Weaver (Stow, Ohio), who recorded 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Dan Wolfe (Rochester, N.Y.) chipped in 25 assists, nine digs, three blocks and two assists in the loss. 

Endicott 3, Emerson 0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-12)

Endicott cruised to a straight set victory over Emerson 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-12) behind an errorless attack by junior Jeremy Siden (Natick, Mass.) who had 11 kills to lead all players. Siden was assisted by Matt Devendorf (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Zeke Kubisch (Bethlehem, N.Y.) who added seven and six kills, respectively. 

Setter Jeremy Schlosser (Emmaus, Pa.) dished out 33 set assists while tallying four kills on six attacks without an error. Defensively, the Gulls had six blocks as a team with Kubisch leading with three assisted stops. Siden and Devendorf each had a solo block. Junior Andrew Slocum (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) led all players with six digs.

For Emerson, junior Frank O’Sullivan (Ottawa, Ontario) paced the Lions with nine kills while teammate Eric Doherty (Millis, Mass.) tacked on six kills in the losing effort. Junior setter Steve Selnick (Cheshire, Conn.) had 22 assists and four kills.

O’Sullivan was also a presence defensively with a team-high five digs and two assisted blocks. Sophomore Jacob Bennett (Hull, Mass.) was also a factor at the net with one solo and one assisted block.

Vassar defeats SUNY IT, 3-0

Ryan Meller’s (Eden, N.Y.) seven kills and nine digs were not enough for the Wildcats, who dropped their second match of day one. Jonathon Brochu (Latham, N.Y.) had 13 assists for SUNY IT, which also got four kills and three blocks from sophomore Jeff Coon (Cheektowaga, N.Y.).  

Emmanuel defeats Hunter, 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-21)

Emmanuel opened the EC Invitational with a convincing 3-0 win over Hunter. 
Braien Otsla (Brooklyn, N.Y.) paced Hunter’s offensive attack with eleven kills while junior Eric Barty (Jamaica, N.Y.) added nine of his own. Stanley Martinez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded 21 kills for the Hawks, who also got a team-high seven digs from junior libero Sam Martin (Northport, N.Y.). 

Emmanuel 3, Endicott 0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-21)

Emmanuel’s Curtis Abram (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) registered a .450 hit percentage with 10 kills and only one error as he led the Saints to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-21) victory over the host Endicott. He also served up six aces on the Gulls. Tyson Rietz (Granite Bay, Calif.) tallied nine kills and Cam Todd (Los Angeles, Calif.) added six kills in the win. Setter Nick Updike (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) did a little bit of everything with 31 assists, five kills and three aces.

The Saints had 10 team blocks with Todd totaling six assisted blocks and Rietz having two solo and one assisted block. Rietz also had a team-high seven digs.

Endicott’s Zeke Kubisch (Bethlehem, N.Y.) had a team-high 10 kills while Jeremy Siden (Natick, Mass.) and Travis Netherton (Waukegan, Ill.) added six and five kills each. Setter Jeremy Schlosser (Emmaus, Pa.) had 24 assists in the loss.

Junior middle blocker Joshua Bruno (Andover, Mass.) had a solo and assisted block in the match while Andrew Slocum (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) had a match-high nine digs.

MIT defeats EMU, 3-0 (25-17, 27-25, 25-21)
Seventh-ranked MIT won for the second time on day one, defeating Eastern Mennonite in three sets. 
Matt Hohenberger (St. Louis, Mo.) led the way with 16 kills and just one error on 25 attacks while Ken Siebert (St. Louis, Mo.) added seven of his own to go along with three service aces. Tim Lee (Natick, Mass.) recorded 28 assists and seven digs for the Engineers, who improved to 13-2 on the year.

EMU was paced by eight kills and 10 digs from Nolan Prock (Virginia Beach, Va.). Sophomore setter John Barry (Worthington, Ohio) added 23 assists while classmate Chris Moise (Hollywood, Fla.) chipped in seven kills and four blocks. Frankie Coto (Miami, Fla.) paced the Royals at the net, registering six blocks.   

Baruch 3, Vassar 1 (19-25, 27-25, 27-25, 25-23)
Baruch dropped the first set to Vassar, but responded by winning the next three sets to win 3-1 (19-25, 27-25, 27-25, 25-23). Baruch got tremendous efforts from seniors Pablo Oliveira (Uberlandia, Brazil) and Eryk Kowalski (Zabno, Poland) who tallied 17 and 15 kills, respectively. Jesus Echevarria (San Juan, Puerto Rico) dished out 41 assists. 

Oliveira, Kowalski and freshman Nick Smith (Long Beach, N.Y.) each had eight digs in the win whihle Oliveira added four blocks to lead the Bearcats. 

Vassar was led by senior Evan Fredericksen (Menlo Park, Calif.) who spiked a match-high 24 kills. Patrick Donohue (East Petersburg, Pa.) added 13 kills of his own. Setter Clifford Quinn (Hamburg, N.Y.) tallied 36 assists. Libero Christian La Du (Westhampton, N.Y.) led all players with 12 digs and Fredericksen had a match-high five blocks. 

Hunter defeats Emerson, 3-1 (26-28, 25-18, 25-14, 25-21)
Stanley Martinez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) handed out a game-high 45 assists as the Hawks rallied to defeat Emerson, 3-0. Eric Barty (Jamaica, N.Y.) led the offensive attack with a team-high 13 kills while adding six digs. Braien Otsla (Brooklyn, N.Y.) registered 10 kills for Hunter, who rebounded from an earlier loss to secure the three-seed in Pool A.

-- Day Two --

Emmanuel defeats MIT, 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-19)
Freshman outside hitter Ken Siebert (St. Louis, Mo.) logged eight kills while All-Tournament selection Tim Lee (Natick, Mass.) added 20 assists and nine digs, but No. 7 MIT fell to Emmanuel, 3-0. The Engineers had enjoyed a 2-0 day on Saturday before opening Sunday with the loss. Daniel Sngiem (Long Beach, Calif.) chipped in six digs in the setback. 

Hunter defeats Hilbert, 3-1 (25-16, 25-12, 23-25, 25-16)
Stanley Martinez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) registered 47 assists, eight digs, three aces, and a pair of blocks to lead Hunter past Hilbert. Braien Otsla (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and John Gemegah (Jackson Heights, N.Y.) led the offensive attack with 15 and 10 kills, respectively. Gemegah added a pair of blocks in the win.

Hilbert was paced by Dan Wolfe’s (Rochester, N.Y.) 20 assists and five blocks. The Royals also received 12 kills and 11 digs from freshman Adam Weaver (Stow, Ohio). Anthony Blasz (Eden, N.Y.) added ten kills and four blocks in the loss. 

SUNY IT defeats Emerson, 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-21)
Jonathan Brochu (Latham, N.Y.) recorded 24 assists and 13 digs to lift SUNY IT to its first win of the tournament. Ryan Meller (Eden, N.Y.) paced the offensive attack with a team-high 16 kills while Jeff Coon (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) added eight kills and a team-high five blocks for the Wildcats.

Emerson’s Nadav Swarttz (Newton, Mass.) logged a team-high eight kills while sophomore outside hitter Eric Doherty (Millis, Mass.) added six and a pair of aces in the loss. Steve Selnick (Cheshire, Conn.) handed out a team-high 22 assists for the Lions.

Eastern Mennonite 3, Endicott 2 (25-22, 25-19, 15-25, 18-25, 15-12)

The Eastern Mennonite Royals defeated the host Endicott Gulls 3-2 (25-22, 25-19, 15-25, 18-25, 15-12) in a five-set thriller to improve to 2-1 at the Endicott Invitational. EMU’s Chris Moise (Hollywood, Fla.) led all players with 16 kills and added six digs and two block assists in the match. Nolan Prock (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Frankie Coto (Miami, Fla.) each added 11 kills but the duo’s presence was most felt at the net with Prock blocking seven attacks and Coto blocking a match-high 12 opposing swings. EMU tallied 17 blocks as a team.

Royals libero Kendall Garber (Lancaster, Pa.) had 18 digs and setter John Barry (Worthington, Ohio) had 44 set assists in the win.

For the Gulls, Zeke Kubisch (Bethlehem, N.Y.) and Travis Netherton (Waukegan, Ill.) each hit double digit kills with 12 and 10, respectively. Joshua Bruno (Andover, Mass.) added nine kills with just two errors as well as blocking four attacks at the net. 

Andrew Slocum (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and Kubisch tallied 12 and 11 digs each. Setter Jeremy Schlosser (Emmaus, Pa.) had 35 assists in four sets played while Carter Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) dished out 13 assists.

Vassar defeats EMU, 3-0 (27-25, 25-19, 25-19)
Senior Evan Frederickson (Menlo Park, Calif.) registered a game-high 11 kills and sophomore John Konow (Chicago, Ill.) handed out 33 assists to lift Vassar past Eastern Mennonite in Pool B play. Matt Elgin (Farmington, N.Y.) added nine kills and a team-high four blocks for the Brewers. Sophomore libero Christian La Du (Westhampton, N.Y.) paced Vassar’s defensive effort with 12 digs.

Eastern Mennonite’s offensive attack was paced by Frankie Coto’s (Miami, Fla.) seven kills. Sophomore outside hitter Chris Moise (Hollywood, Fla.) added six and eight digs for the Royals, who wrapped up the tournament with a 2-2 record. John Barry (Worthington, Ohio) registered a team-high 22 assists in the loss.

Hunter defeats SUNY IT, 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-15)
Erick Barty (Jamaica, N.Y.) and Braien Otsla (Brooklyn, N.Y.) combined for 33 kills to lead Hunter to its second win of the day and a first place finish in the bronze group. Stanley Martinez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) handed out 54 assists in the win while Sam Martin (Northport, N.Y.) tallied a team-high nine digs. 

SUNY IT was paced by 12 kills from Ryan Meller (Eden, N.Y.), who earned an Honorable Mention nod for his consistent play all weekend long. Jonathon Brochu (Latham, N.Y.) recorded 27 assists, 11 digs, and two aces in the loss while Tysheem Foy-Carter (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 11 digs of his own. 

Hilbert defeats Emerson, 3-1 (25-13, 25-21, 24-26, 25-19)
Freshman outside hitter Adam Weaver (Stow, Ohio) guided Hilbert to a 3-1 win in its final match of the Endicott Invitational with a team-high 18 kills. RJ Sykora (Stow, Ohio) tallied 35 assists and seven blocks for the Royals. Dan Wolfe (Rochester, N.Y.) added 23 digs and six blocks.

Vassar 3, Endicott 1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-23)

Evan Fredericksen (Menlo Park, Calif.) tallied a match-high 26 kills on 53 attacks to lead Vassar to 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-23) victory in the Silver Bracket of the Endicott Invitational. Matthew Elgin (Farmington, N.Y.) also reached double digit kills with 12. Setter Jon Konow (Chicago, Ill.) dished out 52 assists for a Brewers squad that had a .311 hit percentage as a team. Libero Christian La Du (Westhampton, N.Y.) tied Endicott’s Andrew Slocum (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) for a match-high 14 digs. Clifford Quinn (Hamburg, N.Y.) and Konow had 11 and 10 digs, respectively.

Endicott was led by Jeremy Siden (Natick, Mass.) and Travis Netherton (Waukegan, Ill.) who recorded 14 and 12 kills each. Jeremy Schlosser (Emmaus, Pa.) had 42 assists. Joshua Bruno (Andover, Mass.) was once again a factor at the net with two solo blocks and four assisted blocks. 

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Baruch defeats Emmanuel, 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 25-19, 25-16)
Baruch won the 2011 Endicott Invitational tournament and finished the weekend 4-0 after defeating Emmanuel, 3-1, in the championship game. Pablo Oliveira (Uberlandia, Brazil) led the way offensively and defensively, registering team highs with 16 kills and four blocks. 

Jesus Echevarria (San Juan, Puerto Rico) added 39 assists in the win as the Bearcats improved to 10-9 on the year. Echevarria and senior outside hitter Kirill Yagnetinskiy (Brooklyn, N.Y.) each had nine digs.
