BEVERLY, Mass. - The fourth-seeded Endicott College men's tennis team made quick work of No. 5 Western New England College, flying past the Golden Bears, 7-2, in The Commonwealth Coast Conference Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon on South Campus. The win propels the Gulls into their second-straight TCCC Semifinal appearance.

The Gulls got the day started on a strong note, tuning their way to a quick 3-0 lead after doubles play. Dan Murray (Coventry, R.I.) and Josh Schoen (Phoenix, Ariz.) got the action started with an 8-4 win over Mike Jones (Stone Ridge, N.Y.) and Brian Relihan (Orange, Conn.). No. 2 doubles team Devon Locke (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) and partner Gabriel Moraga (Marlborough, Conn.) took care of business against Alex Boutin (Bristol, Conn.) and Ryan Turner (Yorkville, Ill.), 8-3. Marc Maloney (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and Scott Teller (Granville, N.Y.) also got the Gulls a point, swinging to an 8-4 win over Mike Wilhoft (Manchester, Conn.) and Jason Lee (Scarsdale, N.Y.).

In singles play Dan Murray was once against dominant, waltzing past Mike Wilhoft, 6-0, 6-1. Josh Schoen was able to edge Alex Boutin, 6-4, 6-3, in the No. 2 doubles spot. Devon Lock and Jason Lee locked-up in a toughly contested match, as Locke muscled his way to a 6-2, 4-6, 10-3 win over his junior counterpart. Gabriel Moraga defeated Mike Jones in a marathon battle, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. The Golden Bears scored their only two points of the afternoon in the fifth and sixth singles, as Brian Relihan and Ryan Turner were able to get by Scott Teller and Marc Maloney, 6-3, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-3, respectively.

With the win, Endicott secures its spot in The Commonwealth Coast Conference Semifinals. The Gulls will wait to meet the winner of No. 1 Salve Regina and No. 8 Curry College. If the Seahawks win, the Blue and Green would travel to Newport, R.I. to meet SRU on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
