Men's tennis selected to finish fifth in preseason poll

Feb. 26, 2008

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - After enjoying its most successful season in program history, the Endicott men's tennis team has been selected to finish fifth in The Commonwealth Coast Conference Tennis Preseason Poll, which was released on Tuesday.

Endicott will be led by new head coach Richard Edelmann this season. Edelmann was named last year's NESCAC Coach of the year, steering Amherst to a 14-6 record. He will look to improve upon Endicott's 2007 season, which saw them reach the TCCC Semifinals for the first time in program history.

Six-time Defending Commonwealth Coast Champion Salve Regina University has been selected as the favorite to win the 2008 Commonwealth Coast Conference men's tennis championship. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the league's head men's tennis coaches.

Salve Regina University (14-8, 8-0) received nine of the 10 first-place votes in the 2008 TCCC preseason poll. Roger Williams was selected by the coaches as the runner-up in the conference and received the lone other first-place vote. Colby-Sawyer was picked to finish third, while Western New England and Endicott were picked to finish fourth and fifth, respectively.

Teams received 10 points for every first place vote received, nine points for second place votes, eight points for third place votes, down to one point for a last place vote. First place votes are shown in parentheses.
