Endicott falls in battle of unbeaten conference schools

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott College men's tennis team fell, 9-0, to The Commonwealth Coast Conference top-dog Salve Regina University in a battle of previously unbeaten conference teams. The win marks Salve's 12th in a row, while Endicott lost its first match in its last nine outings.

Rob Norton (Exeter, N.H.) and Trey van Buskirk (La Jolla, Calif.) got the Seahawks started as they dropped Dan Murray (Coventry, R.I.) and Josh Schoen (Phoenix, Ariz.), 8-5, in the No. 1 doubles match. Jason Lago (Seabrook, N.H.) and Andrew Martin (Glastonbury, Conn.) took home a win in the second doubles, 9-7. Mike Collins (Winchester, Mass.) and Chris Tolo (Shelton, Conn.) completed the doubles sweep as they logged an 8-2 win over Marc Maloney (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and Scott Teller (Granville, N.Y.).

Salve Regina continued rolling in singles play, taking all six solo contests. Rob Norton took the No. 1 singles win over Dan Murray, 6-1, 6-2. Josh Schoen put together the best Endicott effort of the day, falling, 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 against Jason Lago. The win marks Salve's 12th of the year, as the Seahawks improve to 12-3 overall and a perfect 7-0 in conference play.

Endicott, now 10-3 and 5-1 in TCCC action, returns to action on Sunday as it hosts Roger Williams University at 1:00 p.m. on South Campus in Beverly, Mass.
