Endicott Field Hockey Earns NFHCA Academic Postseason Awards

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott field hockey team has been honored with the 2019 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) office. The team also saw 16 members named to the 2019 ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad, and three members earn Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction. 

The Division III National Academic Team Award recognizes programs that earned a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the 2019-2020 school year.

The Gulls have now earned this distinction for the 13th year in a row and are one of six Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) institutions to be named to the list.

The Division III National Academic Squad program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-2020 academic year.

Earning those honors this season were seniors Emily Graham (Westford, Mass.), Kristen McCarthy (Danvers, Mass.), and Julie Champigny (Acton, Mass.), juniors Jaylin Grabau (Lynnfield, Mass.), Samantha Brown (Byfield, Mass.), Lily Smith (Middlebury, Vt.), and Lauren Whitney (Poway, Calif.), sophomores Sydney Poulin (Watertown, Mass.), Abby Carter (Burlington, Vt.),  and Addi Williams (Pittsfield, Maine), and freshman Rachael Lemay (Westminster, Mass.), Natalie Anderson (Freeport, Maine), Ryan Atkins (Pelham, N.H.), Claire Boncek (Hamden, Conn.), Meaghan Hogan (Cheshire, Conn.), and Chloe Spedden (Bolton, Mass.).

The Gulls also had Lemay, Brown, and Smith earn Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction. 

The Division III Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-20 academic year.

Endicott (19-5, 12-0) captured its fourth CCC championship title in program history during the 2019 season. The Gulls went on to win their first-round NCAA Tournament matchup against Wilson by a score of 8-1 before falling to No. 9 Kean, 3-1, in the second round.
