MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The No. 20 nationally ranked Endicott field hockey team fell to No. 9 Kean University, 3-1, on Saturday evening in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Kohn Field, hosted by Middlebury College.
Tied 0-0 in the second quarter, Kean broke open the shutout at the 26:00 mark as Peyton Mann (Nazareth, Pa.) buried her 10th goal of the season via a feed from Bethany Garcia (Cherry Hill, N.J.).
From there, Rachel Mills (Dover, Del.) scored one goal in the third (32:00) and another in the fourth (49:28) to provide enough cushion to thwart a late comeback bid from the Gulls, which featured a fourth quarter goal from Kristen McCarthy (Danvers, Mass.) at 50:11.
Endicott goalie Taylor Farrin (Danvers, Mass.) made five saves in the loss (19-5), while Belly Reynoso (Manalapan, N.J.) had six stops in the win (19-3).
