Plymouth, N.H. – Endicott sophomore \#Hannah Thornberg\# (Oakland, Maine) scored a pair of second half goals on Saturday afternoon, to spark a come-from-behind Gulls victory over Plymouth State in field hockey action. The Blue and Green improved to 1-1 with their first win of the season while Plymouth State drops to 0-1 following their season opener loss.
Thornberg tallied both goals within five minutes of each other early in the second stanza to help the Gulls overcome a 1-0 halftime deficit.
Panthers junior Christina Parisi (Hampton Falls, N.H./Winnacunnet) netted the only Plymouth State goal 13 minutes into the first half after dribbling through the Endicott defense and firing a shot from the right side into the lower left corner of the goal. The Panthers proceeded to outshoot the Gulls 5-2 in the first half, but had just one goal to show for it.
Thornberg scored the game-tying goal eight minutes into the second half on a redirect after a shot was taken at the top of the circle by senior \#Cara Hanrahan\# (Franklin, Tenn.). Later in the half, Thornberg collected a loose ball and found the back of the net again to put the Gulls ahead 2-1.
Endicott freshman \#Stacie Teevens\# (Westborough, Mass.) added an insurance marker with 3:41 remaining in the game for her first career collegiate goal.
The Blue and Green outshot the home team 9-6 in the second half as both teams finished the game with 11 shots a piece. Sophomore goalie \#Taylor Teixeira\# (Exeter, N.H.) made eight saves to record the victory in the cage while Plymouth State goalie Hilary Lemelin (Milan, N.H.) made four saves in the loss.
Endicott will play its home opener on Wednesday, September 8th against SUNY New Paltz at 4pm while Plymouth State travels to Castleton State College for a 4pm game on the same day.
