Tennis drops Emmanuel 8-1 on the road

BEVERLY, Mass. - After sweeping doubles play, the Endicott women's tennis team took five out of a six singles flights en route to a 8-1 victory over non-conference foe Emmanuel (Mass.) to improve to 2-1 overall.

Junior Emilie Cloutier (Lewiston, Maine) captured two of Endicott's eight points on the day with wins at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles with partner Gina Pinciaro (Beverly, Mass.) to lead the Blue and Green over the Saints.  Cloutier and Pinciaro improved to 3-0 as a duo on the 2012 season.  

The Gulls started off doubles play with an 8-5 win by sophomores Chrissy Martel (Westbrook, Conn.) and Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine) at the top position, followed by Cloutier and Pinciaro, then an 8-2 triumph by senior Rachel Fenstermaker (Somerset, Mass.) and newcomer Sarah Hill (Topsham, Maine).  

Singles play saw the two through six flights go without dropping set to solidify the Endicott win.  Cloutier didn't suffer a single point again, Egbert edged her Emmanuel opponent 7-5 in the first set before a 6-0 shutout in the second, and sophomore Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.), freshman Annie Gluskin (Duxbury, Mass.), and junior Emily McDonough (West Hartford, Conn.) all turned in convincing wins in their respective matches.  

Endicott plays in their home and CCC opener on Saturday, September 8th at noon against Western New England at the South Campus Courts.
