BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's lacrosse team bested Western New England (WNE), 16-8, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Saturday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium.
Prior to the game, Emily Doane (Hempstead, N.C), Lauren Faber (Littleton, Mass.), Katy Garvin (Mansfield, Mass.), Nicole Genga (Marlborough, Mass.), Taylor Horine (Fairfield, Conn.), Kiana Napolitano (Revere, Mass.), KC O'Connor (Boston, Mass.), Alex Palermo (Reading, Mass.), Carly Pierce (Exeter, N.H.), and Katie Schenk (Southbury, Conn.) were all honored for their contributions to the program and Endicott College community.
As for the contest, the Blue and Green outscored WNE 9-5 in the second half to come away with the victory.
Peirce powered through the Golden Bears' defense by potting a game-high/career-high six scores.
Napolitano notched her third hat trick of the season, while Palermo, Garvin, and Shchenk found the back of the net twice to round out the list of multi-goal scorers for Endicott.
Meanwhile, Genga recorded a solo tally in the win.
Defensively, Matilda Darrah (Dover, N.H) corralled five ground balls and forced two turnovers, while Schenk scooped three ground balls and won three draw controls. O'Connor and Faber also gathered two ground balls, respectively.
In goal, Lydia Akins (Edina, Minn), turned away a career-high 19 shots to improve to 7-7 on the season.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott is 23-6 all-time against WNE (9 straight victories).
- Pierce has scored three or more times in three consecutive contests.
- The Gulls are 5-1 at The Nest this season.
- WNE's eight-game winning streak came to an end today.
