Colorado College Pulls Away From Women’s Lacrosse, 16-14

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Endicott women's lacrosse team lost to Colorado College, 16-14, in non-conference action on Saturday evening at Washburn Field.

Katie Schenk (Southbury, Conn.) fueled the Gulls' offense with five goals, two ground balls, and two draws.

Kiana Napolitano (Revere, Mass.) also registered a hat trick, while Katy Garvin (Mansfield, Mass.) and Alex Palermo (Reading, Mass.) potted two goals apiece.

Mia Smith (Portsmouth, N.H.) and Carly Pierce (Exeter, N.H.) rounded out the scoring with solo tallies.

In goal, Lydia Akins (Edina, Minn.) turned away seven shots in the loss (2-3).

Trailing 9-5 at halftime, the Gulls came out firing in the second stanza producing a 6-0 run to take an 11-9 lead with 5:05 remaining in the third. 

Schenk scored three times during the spurt (14:25, 7:45, 5:05), while Smith (11:41), Palermo (DN — 9:42), and Napolitano (6:21) also found the back of the net.

Colorado College answered with a 5-0 run of its own that spilled into the fourth quarter (14-11, 11:59) and held off the Gulls the rest of the way.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Schenk compiled a career-high five goals (tied career high for points).
  • Endicott is 0-2 all-time against Colorado College.
  • The two teams previously met on 5/10/06 (L, 13-12; Beverly, Mass.).

Endicott (2-3) visits Springfield on Wednesday, March 22 at 6 PM. Colorado College (6-3) hosts Trinity on Wednesday, March 22 at 4 PM (MDT).
