No. 9 Women’s Ice Hockey Edges Southern Maine, 4-3

BEVERLY, Mass. —  The No. 9 nationally ranked Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated Southern Maine, 4-3, in non-conference action on Saturday evening at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

Tied 3-3 with less than two minutes left in regulation, Quin Healy (Melrose, Mass.) buried a second chance opportunity in the slot to secure the victory.

Endicott also received tallies from Payton Hansen (Spring City, Pa.), Makenzie Villiard (Fenton, Mich.), and Teaghan Hall (West Springfield, Mass.) in the season opener for the Gulls.

In goal, Bailey Thieben (North Syracuse, N.Y.) stopped 12 shots to improve to 16-1-0 in her career.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Healy registered her fourth career game-winner.
  • Hall scored her first collegiate goal.
  • Endicott improved to 5-1-1 all-time against Southern Maine.
  • The Gulls erased an early 1-0 deficit in the first period (2:12) with three unanswered goals from Hansen (18:09, 1st), Villiard (12:04), and Hall (15:36, 2nd).

No. 9 Endicott (1-0-0) hosts No. 11 Norwich on Tuesday, November 1 at 7 PM. Southern Maine (0-2-0) welcomes No. 4 Elmira to its campus on Friday, November 4 at 6 PM.
