Gulls tennis takes fourth straight conference win with 9-0 shutout over Curry

MILTON, Mass. – Endicott defeated Curry, 9-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men’s tennis action Saturday afternoon in Milton.  

The Gulls improved to 9-9 overall and 5-2 in CCC action. The Colonels fell to 1-14 overall and 0-7 in league play.
 
Endicott began the day by sweeping the doubles.  The junior duo of Olivier Joggi (Stoneham, Mass.) and Jake Cohen (Barrington, R.I.) defeated junior Tyler Collins (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and freshman Cameron Chamberlain (Scituate, Mass.), 8-1, at \#1;  Junior Ben Randlett (Middlebury, Vt.) and freshman Eric Gandrup (Sudbury, Mass.) cruised past the junior tandem of Lucas Donaway (Foxboro, Mass.) and Paul Jeppesen (Newington, N.H.), 8-0, at \#2; and the sophomore team of Andrew Zurheide (New London, N.H.) and Keller Dinan (Monterey, Mass.) took care of rookies Joe Berger (Middleboro, Mass.) and Eric Hellberg (Somers, N.Y.), 8-3, at \#3.
 
The Gulls won all six singles matches in straight sets. Joggi had the toughest time, pushed by Collins at \#1 before prevailing, 7-5, 6-3 . Cohen breezed past Chamberlain, 6-2, 6-0, at \#2, while freshman Justin Warshavsky (East Hartford, Conn.) had an easy time with junior Evan Fishman (Glen Ridge, N.J.), 6-0, 6-2, at \#3, and Gandrup dispatched Donaway, 6-3, 6-0, at \#4.
 
A pair of freshman – Mike Lauretano (Winchester, Mass.) and Corbin Tulley (Hollis, N.H.) – were victorious at \#5 and \#6, respectively. Laurentano defeated Jeppesen, 6-1, 6-1, while Tulley knocked off Berger, 6-0, 6-2.
 
Endicott is off until April 25th when it hosts CCC rival Nichols for a 3:30 pm match.
