Ross wins deciding match at #5 singles as Gulls best Vikings 5-4

SALEM, Mass. - Endicott junior Evan Ross (Worcester, Mass.) won the deciding match at \#5 singles to lead the Endicott men's tennis team to a 5-4 decision over Salem State on Thursday afternoon.

 
Ross defeated Johan DaSilva (Barquisimeto,Venezuela) 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 to score the deciding fifth point in three sets.
 
Endicott (5-6) won two-of-three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead entering singles play. The duos of Olivier Joggi (Stoneham, Mass.)/Benjamin Randlett (Middlebury, Vt.) and Porter Williams (Raleigh, N.C.)/Ross won points at first and third doubles for the Gulls.  

Josh Giller (Peabody, Mass.) and Rob Random (Newbury, Mass.) combined for a win at \#2 doubles for the Vikings (2-4), defeating Jake Cohen (Barrington, R.I.) and Eric Gandrup (Sudbury, Mass.), 9-8 in a tightly contested match.

 
Joggi claimed a decisive win at first singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Bizhoti.  Salem State played strong in the middle flights, as they claimed victories in the second thru fourth seeds.  Tim Forance (Natick, Mass.) won the other match at \#6 singles, 6-3, 6-0 over Jong Joe Kim.
 
Endicott will host CCC opponent Eastern Nazarene on Saturday at 10:00 am while Salem State opens up Little East Conference play at UMass-Dartmouth at 1:00 pm.
