BRISTOL, R.I. – The Endicott field hockey team closed out the regular season with a 4-2 victory over Roger Williams on Friday afternoon.
The Gulls got off to a quick start as Sophia Cogliano (Saugus, Mass.) netted the first goal of the game at the 8:24 mark with help from Maggie O'Reilley.
Cogliano also scored the second goal of the contest just over four minutes later to increase the lead to 2-0.
In the 21st minutes of the first half, Emylee Wood (Kensington, N.H.) tallied her seventh goal of the season on a rebound to give the Gulls a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
Endicott's Courtney Brown (Byfield, Mass.) tallied her career goal to begin the scoring in the second half. Madi Wood (Bristol, Vt.) pushed the ball in on a corner opportunity to Brown, who then took a hard shot from the middle of the circle.
Roger Williams responded with two goals from Lea Peterson (Upton, Mass.) to cut the deficit to 4-2 but the Gulls were able to stop any further advances to secure the win.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Taylor Farrin (Danvers, Mass.) improved to 15-3 on the season and recorded five saves
- Endicott held the 25-12 shot advantage.
- The Gulls recorded nine corner opportunities, while the Hawks had three.
- Cogliano paced the offense with six shots.
- Meghan Stanton (Newburyport, Mass.) and Olivia Larson (Cheshire, Conn.) each recorded a defensive save during the contest.
FOR THE FOES
- Mya Lunn (Marion, Mass.) shifted to 5-12 with the loss and made 10 saves.
- Peterson and Emma Stevens (Brewster, Mass.) led the offense with three shots each.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott (16-3, 11-1 CCC) now awaits the final seedings for the CCC tournament to be announced and will play in the semifinal round on Wednesday, Nov. 1, while Roger Williams (5-12, 3-9 CCC) concludes their season.
