SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Endicott field hockey team recorded a 5-1 victory over Western New England on Saturday afternoon at Golden Bear Stadium.
Samantha Crowley (Leicester, Mass.) gave the Gulls a 1-0 lead on a penalty shot at 9:53.
With less than three minutes remaining in the first half, Sophia Cogliano (Saugus, Mass.) extended the lead to 2-0.
At the 48:58 mark, Emylee Wood (Kensington, N.H.) tallied a goal with help from Emily Hirtle (Rowley, Mass.).
Hirtle then added a goal of her own just over two minutes later to give Endicott the 4-0 lead.
The Gull's fifth goal of the game came at 54:55 when Jaylin Grabau (Lynnfield, Mass.) set up Cogliano for her second goal of the game.
Western New England responded with a goal from Brittany DeLima (Branchville, N.J.) to cut the deficit to 5-1 with just over six minutes remaining in regulation but the Gull defense was able to halt any further scoring chances to secure the victory.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Taylor Farrin (Danvers, Mass.) improved to 13-3 on the season and made seven saves during the contest.
- Cogliano eclipsed the 100-career point plateau with her pair of goals in today's win. She is only the fifth student-athlete in program history to do so.
- Endicott held the slight 12-11 shot advantage.
- The Gulls had seven corner opportunities, while the Golden Bears recorded six.
- Cogliano paced the offense with three shots.
FOR THE FOES
- Grace Trupe (Cardiff, Calif.) shifted to 5-8 with the loss and recorded three saves.
- Dominique Corveddu (Croton-On-Hudson, N.Y.) also saw action in net for the Golden Bears and made three saves.
- DeLima led the offense with four shots.

Endicott (14-3, 9-1 CCC) hosts Gordon at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25. Western New England (7-9, 4-6 CCC) hosts Roger Williams on Wednesday, October 25 at 4 p.m.
