BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott field hockey team improved to 4-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play Thursday evening on North Field with a 5-1 victory over Roger Williams.
The Gulls got on the board quickly 36 seconds in the game on a goal from Sophia Cogliano (Saugus, Mass.). Just over five minutes later, Madi Wood made it a 2-0 game with help from Brittany Bushey (Pittsford, Vt.).
With time winding down in the first half, Bushey then set up Melanie Kaleta (Bellingham, Mass.) for her third goal of the season to increase the Endicott lead to 3-0.
Cogliano netted her second goal of the game at the 43:48 mark on a pass from Jaylin Grabau (Lynnfield, Mass.). The Hawks responded with a tally from Sydney McCarthy (Little Falls, N.Y.) to cut the deficit to 4-1.
At the 67:35 mark, Emily Hirtle (Rowley, Mass.) found the back of the net to give the Gulls the 5-1 win.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Taylor Farrin (Danvers, Mass.) improved to 8-2 on the season and recorded six saves during the victory.
- The Gulls outshot the Hawks 31-10.
- Cogliano and Hirtle paced the offense with eight shots each.
- Madi Wood (Bristol, Vt.) and Kaleta also notched assists, while Bushey recorded a team-leading two assists on the night.
FOR THE FOES
- Mya Lunn (Marion, Mass.) shifted to 3-5 overall and made 13 saves in the loss.
- Leading the offense was McCarthy and Jenna Clavette (Enfield, Conn.) with two shots each.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott (8-2, 4-0 CCC) hosts Western New England for a 1 p.m. conference matchup on Saturday, September 30. Roger Williams (3-5, 1-3 CCC) travels to Gordon on Saturday, September 30 for an 11 a.m. contest.
