BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott field hockey team defeated Nichols, 5-0, on Tuesday night at North Field. The Gulls were led by a hat-trick performance from Sophia Cogliano (Saugus, Mass.).
Cogliano got the scoring started just over one minute into play with help from Olivia Larson (Cheshire, Conn.).
At the 13:21 mark, Jaylin Grabau (Lynnfield, Mass.) increased the Endicott lead to 2-0 when she picked up a rebound and swept the ball into the net.
Just over eight minutes later, Grabau netted her second goal of the evening after redirecting a ball that hit the crossbar, into the goal.
Brittany Bushey (Pittsford, Vt.) sent a cross into Cogliano, who was waiting in front of the net at 33:44 to make the score 4-0.
Cogliano then finished her hat trick with a tally on a redirected shot from Grabau with at the 36:51 mark.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Taylor Farrin (Danvers, Mass.) got the start in net and made two saves to secure the shutout. She improved to 12-3 on the season.
- Endicott held the 45-3 shot advantage.
- The Gulls had 12 corner opportunities, while the Bison recorded one.
- Cogliano paced the offense with 13 shots, while Emylee Wood (Kensington, N.H.) was close behind with 10.
FOR THE FOES
- Brooke Misbach (Guilford, Conn.) shifted to 6-9 with the loss and recorded 22 saves.
- Dana Edwards (Georgetown, Mass.), Erin Kelley (Dighton, Mass.), and Mackenzie McDonald (Pembroke, Mass.) each recorded a shot on net to lead the offense.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott (13-3, 8-1 CCC) travels to Western New England for a 1 p.m. CCC contest on Saturday, October 21. Nichols (6-9, 2-8 CCC) hosts Framingham State on Thursday, October 19 at 4 p.m.
