Field Hockey Downs Nichols, 8-1

Madi Wood passes a ball to a teammate.

DUDLEY, Mass. – Behind a career-high, four-point effort from senior midfielder Madi Wood (Bristol, Vt.), the Endicott field team registered an 8-1 league victory over Nichols College on Saturday afternoon at Vendetti Field.

Jaylin Grabau (Lynnfield, Mass.) put the Gulls on the scoreboard first at the 19:48 mark, then Wood took over the contest as she factored into the next three tallies to clinch the win.

At 34:27, Emily Hirtle (Rowley, Mass.) redirected a feed from Wood for her third of the year, while Wood followed with a deflection of her own at 36:39 (second of the season). Samantha Crowley (Leicester, Mass.) capped the run orchestrated by Wood when she buried a pass from Wood at 41:04 to give Endicott a 4-0 advantage.

The Gulls went on to score four more unanswered goals off the sticks of Grabau, Lauren Whitney (Poway, Calif.) and two markers from Melanie Kaleta (Bellingham, Mass.)
